Lifeworks offers students a learning environment that enhances their academic, vocational, transitional, life, and social skills in a structured, substantially separate program. Lifeworks provides instruction to meet the goals of each student’s individual education plan (IEP). The program also offers students community-based training and volunteer work placements. Its focus is on students with autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disabilities. Lifeworks emphasizes functional communication, pragmatic language, and self-advocacy skills in structured classrooms, community-based and vocational settings. Lifeworks classrooms include small group instructional methodologies. Lifeworks provides additional support consisting of applied learning experiences in functional academics, vocational skills, self-management, and independent living.
Lifeworks provides the opportunity to participate in community job placements that include retail work, maintenance work, animal care, food service, and many other internships that are tailored to each individual student’s aptitudes, interests, and behavioral profile.
Staffing includes, but is not limited to Special education teachers, Board-certified behavior analysts (BCBA), Speech and language pathologists, Registered behavior technicians, Speech therapists, Occupational therapists, Physical therapists, Instructional assistants/job coaches, School psychologists, Assistive technology specialists, Assistive and augmentative, Communication specialist, and Licensed social workers.
