Lifeworks Program Overview
Lifeworks provides a structured, substantially separate learning environment that enhances academic, vocational, transitional, life, and social skills for students with autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disabilities. The program is tailored to meet the goals outlined in each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and offers community-based training and volunteer work placements.
Lifeworks emphasizes functional communication, pragmatic language, and self-advocacy skills through small-group instruction in both classroom and community settings. The program includes applied learning experiences focused on functional academics, vocational skills, self-management, and independent living.
Students have the opportunity to engage in community job placements in areas such as retail, maintenance, animal care, and food service, with internships customized to align with their interests, aptitudes, and behavioral profiles.
The staffing team consists of special education teachers, Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), speech and language pathologists, registered behavior technicians, occupational therapists, physical therapists, instructional assistants/job coaches, school psychologists, assistive technology specialists, communication specialists, and licensed social workers.
